Victory! Thanks to animal lovers worldwide who voiced their concerns over a viral video that shows a woman biting and hitting a dog on a train in Toronto, Canada, the dog has now been seized by the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

The video (warning: it’s graphic) shows the woman repeatedly yanking on the dog’s leash, grabbing the dog by the back of his/her neck and biting the dog’s face, resulting in her getting fur stuck in her teeth.

This certainly wasn’t a situation to take lightly. Animal abuse is strongly linked with other forms of abuse, such as domestic violence and child abuse. One study found that animal abuse occurred in 88 percent of homes where child abuse had been discovered. In fact, animal abusers are five times more likely to abuse people.

Understandably and rightfully, passengers on the train were appalled and immediately called the police and filed a report. The police came to the train station and interviewed the woman, as well as witnesses, and gave her a warning, releasing her with the dog due to insufficient evidence.

But thanks to the good Samaritan, Roxy Huang, who took the now viral video footage, police then brought to the troubling incident to the attention of the Ontario SPCA. From there, the dog was seized and placed in protective custody. The owner now has charges pending for animal cruelty.

Thanks to the compassionate people on the train, as well as millions of online commentators who voiced their outrage, the dog is now out of harm’s way and will hopefully find a loving, peaceful forever home.

Please always speak up if you see animal abuse by calling the proper authorities. It’s important we speak up for those who cannot!

Wonderful Roxy Huang!!
Let\'s hope this little dog goes to a GOOD forever home and that this disturbed woman doesn\'t have other animals to abuse. She needs help so that she stops torturing defenceless creatures!

Please refrain from using "owner" or any form of it. We need to change perceptions that non-human animals are objects and language is one way to accomplish that..

Thank you to all the compassionate and caring people who stood up for this abused pup so an appropriate and loving home can be found. If this woman has mental health issues, she has still committed an act of animal cruelty and is totally unsuitable as a carer for any animal until she has had treatment as is stable.

I too wondered if she has some mental health issues but I am glad that little dog will not have to suffer any more. Who knows what else happens. If she does have mental health problems she was obviously out of control and maybe could not help herself; if she is just cruel and sadistic I have n sympathy. Fast work though. Bravo to all who helped this little dog.

I could not hear the video and I am not a mental health expert, but it looked to me like this woman was very mentally unstable. I wonder if the police should have taken her for observation. And does she have some one else in her life she is abusing..

i\'d have followed her off the train, and beat the SHIT out of her., Left her bloodied, bruised and mouth toothless, then cut her fucking hands off her goodddamn wrists.

Violence is not solving anything. I know you feel rage when you see what she did to the helpless dog, but to inflict the same or worse to her, would it make anything better? She should just not be allowed to have any animal in her care, ever again. A jail sentence would be in place as well, as- if she would beat up a human, you would get the same verdict, or a huge fine, anything. Now she walks away freely.

Too bad she can\'t have the same treatment that she gave that poor little pooch! Hope they bring charges against her!
