After discovering a weak and dehydrated elephant stuck in a tar-like, muddy well at Kenya’s Northern Rangelands Trust community conservancy, a group of rescuers came together to save this beautiful elephant’s life!
“The poor bull elephant was so thirsty,” wrote Jules Binks, one of the rescuers, on Instagram. “We decided to give him some water, which he drank timidly at first, but it didn’t take long for him to start gulping it down.”
Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Northern Rangelands Trust, Save the Elephants, and area residents worked tirelessly to save this poor animal. It took 100 litres of water, three cars, lots of digging and pulling, as well as the support of a whole community, but four hours later, this ellie was saved!
We’re so inspired by the community that united to save this elephant! When we come together for good, amazing things can happen. If you’d like to help Lewa Wildlife Conservancy continue its incredible work, consider donating to the sanctuary.
