Plant-based milks have taken the market by storm and as more and more companies add dairy-free options to their menus, it looks as though they’re here to stay. And now we have exciting news to share: there is yet another coffee chain adding a dairy-free option to their menu, ensuring coffee lovers everywhere get their morning fix.
The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf is now offering Califia Farms’ popular Barista Blend almond milk as a steaming and foaming option at participating store locations. And considering the chain has over 1,000 stores in the United States and in 29 countries, Monday mornings just got so much easier.
Califia Farms specifically formulated this blend for baristas so that they can smoothly integrate the dairy-free milk in coffees and teas. Not only is Califia Farms’ Barista Blend vegan, it’s also non-GMO, kosher, and low in sugar. The blend joins a range of other Califia Farms plant-based creamers, including Califia Farms rich, creamy, and decadent, Better Half Coffee Creamer.
According to the latest trend report from Innova, globally, the plant-based milk market is expected to reach 16.3 billion in 2018, up from 7.4 billion in 2010. And considering how dairy has been steadily falling out of favor with consumers, with milk consumption in the U.S. declining about 25 percent, per capita, since the mid-1970s, it’s no wonder The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf are adding plant-based milk options to their menu.
Increasingly more people are starting to wake up to the fact that the dairy industry has been embellishing the nutritional benefits of their products, learning about the environmental impact of milk, and consequently choosing better alternatives. Whether it’s almond milk now offered at a nearby coffee shop, or a delicious creamer conveniently waiting in your bag, it’s never been more clear, the future of food is plant-based!
