The Guardians of the Voiceless team is always around to help animals in need and often depend on the help of the community. When a local called about a dog, named Maya, who had tar stuck in her fur, the Guardians got some unexpected help from a handful of curious and compassionate children.
Maya’s skin was not only severely irritated by the tar that covered half her body but also because of the wounds created by her trying desperately to remove it. The poor dog was clearly stressed but these kids were excited for the opportunity to relieve sweet Maya. With patience and a gentle touch, all of the tar was successfully removed by massaging vegetable oil into the fur. She was then cleaned, her wounds treated, and she was given a nice meal. She felt so much better thanks to all her little helpers!
The compassion the children showed this wonderful girl is exactly what will change the world for animals like Maya. Through education and hands-on experience, children learn the importance of respecting all living beings. To see an innocent being go from hurt and scared to happy and content … there is no better feeling than that. The children not only helped Maya but Maya also helped these children understand what love for all really means.
The Guardians will return to further treat Maya’s wounds until she is completely healed and it seems Maya has quite the little fan club that will be keeping an eye on her.
