There is nothing quite like running with the feeling of wind rushing past your face and the crunch of grass under your feet, or paws. And this is exactly what Navi the basset hound is doing now that she is cancer free!

Navi’s story of survival is chronicled on her website, Navi the Dog! It began with a frightening nighttime trip to the ER after Navi had been acting strange. That night, veterinarians discovered Navi had internal bleeding caused by a tumor in her spleen that now needed to be removed. After her caretaker made the decision to go through with the surgery, Navi recovered and seemed back to her normal self.

Then, a week later, Navi’s family received the news that the tumor was cancerous and could be quite aggressive. She was given three months to live, but her caretakers didn’t give up. They put her on an organic food regimen with supplements and she now appears to be cancer free!

We think she’d be a great contender for a second installment of Ontario Veterinary College’s public service announcement of dogs singing for a cure. Watch the video and we think you’ll agree!
