Lucy is a little Labrador Retriever was born to a purebred dog breeder who intended to sell her for a steep profit. Being that this pup was born to the highest of pedigree parents, the breeder easily made $800 per puppy for Lucy’s littermates.  Primarily, these pups were sold to people who thought that buying a purebred dog was the only way to guarantee certain “desirable” traits in dogs.

While her brothers and sisters were all considered valuable, poor Lucy was the runt of her litter and lacking in these so called “champion traits.” Because of this, the breeder sold her for the best offer of $50, just to get rid of her.

Full grown, Lucy is 40 pounds. She is a bit of a mini, but her big personality that more than makes up for her tiny stature. She is smart, playful and loves to sit for her humans, especially when she gets to show off her new rain boots!

Does Lucy look “broken” to you … ??

Lucy the Chocolate Lab

Now, full grown, Lucy is 40 pounds. She is a bit of a mini Lab, but her big personality that more than makes up for her tiny stature. She is smart, playful and loves to sit for her humans, especially when she gets to show off her new rain boots! She is a great dog and not disappointing in any way, no thanks the breeders who only saw her lost profit.

Sadly, although many people love and cherish dogs, they are often viewed as commodities. Some people see their dogs as an accessory and willfully discard them when they get old or no longer fit the attractive mold they’re “meant” to. However, the consequences of doing so are extremely dire.

Each year in the U.S., 6 to 8 million dogs and cats find themselves in animal shelters, with only about 3 million making it out alive.  Of the dogs, approximately 35 percent of them are purebreds,  indicating that, although many purebred dogs are purchased as puppies, lots of them will still end up meeting the same sad fate as the rest. With shelters across the country killing whole litters of nursing and just weaned pups every day due to a lack of space, each puppy bred represents a healthy, adoptable puppy, with many of the same desirable traits, who will die in a shelter. These days, the Internet has made it easier than ever to find a pet, with everything from shelter websites posting new adoptable animals to apps that can match you with the perfect companion.

For little more than the cost to drive to your closest shelter, you could go home with the puppy of your dreams and save a life. The bottom line is that when you buy, others die. So take a trip down to your local animal shelter and save a life today!

They don't do it for the love of dogs, they are greedy people, and makes you wonder if any are going to be rouble for the buyers later on in life., like lumps and bumps on the skin that grow, these cost a fortune to remove from your baby, but 500 dollars and more for these things ae a lot of money these days..
