Life for a wild animal can be hard enough but when they are faced with totally avoidable and unnecessarily cruel threats, like being tormented by kids, they stand little chance.
Green Heritage Fund Suriname recently shared a hopeful story of a sloth who was saved by a kind young man. The boy saw the animal was being harassed by a gang of boys and stepped in to help the defenseless creature.
The two-fingered sloth was lucky to find a defender and a helping hand. Thanks to the intervention, the animal is now safe and sound.
The sloth was transported in the back of a car and covered with a hammock. By the time the rescue was reached, the little fellow was all entangled…
… But in the morning, the hammock was removed. The caretakers then noticed white rope around the sloth’s neck and red ropes around all four legs. One hammock rope was also stuck behind the animal’s foot.
After some ten minutes, the sloth was finally free once again – hopefully never to have a similar adventure ever again.
This sweet animal got out of a terrible situation thanks to a good person who did not let the animal suffer but stepped in to help. Thanks to that, the sloth will now have a chance to quickly recover – and get back to being its sloth-self.
