Plant-based meat alternatives are taking over grocery store shelves, so much so that Beyond Meat’s wildly popular Beyond Burger outsold traditional beef in a major supermarket earlier this year. Thanks to the success of the Beyond Burger, which has sold 13 million patties in 15,000 restaurants and grocery stores since its launch in 2016, the brand recently released the Beyond Sausage, which has been growing in popularity at baseball stadiums and restaurants across the States. And now the plant-based brand has announced their launch for their new Breakfast Sausage Patty!
The new product debuted at the National Restaurant Association in Chicago last weekend, and the brand said the breakfast patties will start rolling out in autumn of 2018. The sausage alternative is made with pea protein, mung beans, rice, and sunflower protein and is free of soy, gluten, and GMOs.
A spokesperson for Beyond Meat told GlobalMeatNews that the Breakfast Sausage Patty has flavors of sage and nutmeg, saying that the product was “created to look, cook, sizzle, and taste/satisfy like a real pork breakfast patty.”
Meat producing giant Tyson, as well as Leonardo DiCaprio and Bill Gates, have invested in Beyond Meat, seeing it is as the future of food and a solution to the growing health, environmental, and animal welfare problems resulting from industrialized animal agriculture. Beyond Meat’s products are not only great for vegans and vegetarians, but they provide a comparable alternative to traditional meat for those who are looking to limit their meat consumption with simple swaps. If the brand’s success is any indication, the new Breakfast Sausage Patty is sure to be a big hit, and we cannot wait to try it out!
