Many things set “A Piggy’s Tail” apart from other comics, most notably the protagonist, Piggy, who’s an enchanting three-legged dog who fights crime with his kitty sidekick Simon.
The brain behind the story is Tod Emko, and his real life “Piggy” who has an amazing story. Emko says, “The real-life Piggy is my wonderful 3-legged puppy companion. I rescued him in 2009 during a veterinary campaign trip to the Dominican Republic; my friend and I discovered him hungry, limping, and hairless. He resembled a little piglet, hence his name. After many hours of surgery, medicine, and lots of love, Piggy made a full recovery and came home to NYC with me.”
Without giving too much away, Comics Beat shares that after being “visited by a magical flying pig, Piggy is bestowed with superpowers – the ability to hear animals in distress, and the ability to fly. Using the calls of help as his motivation to recover from his car accident, Piggy heads out into the night with a brand new plan, and soon meets new friends to help him on his way, and new bad guys to chase down.”
