When it comes to sunscreen, I think we would all agree that the phrase “sunscreen season is finally upon us” no longer applies!! This product needs to be a staple in your “skin regimen” and if you don’t have one, then this is the one to start with!!
That bright ball of fire in the sky has some great benefits such as stimulating vitamin D production and most definitely one of the biggest benefits is it enhances our mood. It seems like you can be in the worst mood and soon as you step outside on a sunny day and see and feel those ray of warmth, it completely changes your mood. Awww…life is good!!! It feels so good that it almost feels like it couldn’t harm you…but we know that it can do more harm then good.
I am sure all of you Green Monsters have heard about and want to avoid all damage that UV radiation can cause. From losing that youthful glow to premature aging, increasing the number of wrinkles, brown spots and blotchiness to leathery and sagging skin. So how does it cause damage? There are 3 bands of UV bands, UVB, UVA and UVC. According the Skin Cancer Foundation, UVA is the longer UV ray that causes lasting skin damage, skin aging, and can cause skin cancer. UVB is the shorter UV ray that causes sunburns, skin damage, and can cause skin cancer. UVC rays are the ones you don’t need to worry about; they are filtered by the ozone so these rays don’t reach the earth’s surface to contribute to skin damage. When using a sunscreen you should always look for a Broad Spectrum UVA/UVB protection.
