Dogs are everyone’s best friends. They comfort us when we’re down, welcome us when we come home, and just make us smile. Some are so loyal that they wait patiently for us to come home from school and even carry our books. Our furry friends are there for every special occasion. We love them to no end.

So, it’s sad to see so many homeless animals in shelters across the U.S. and around the world, dogs included. In the U.S. alone, there are an estimated 70 million strays out on the streets, with only about six to eight million of those animals entering the country’s shelters.

Because of this unequal equation, many shelters are high-kill shelters and the estimated euthanasia rate for shelter dogs is 5,500 euthanized every day!

It’s a sad fate for many dogs, especially the marginalized ones, including pit bulls and senior animals. Thus, it makes it so important for those considering a pet to adopt, rather than shop. You can indeed save the life of an animal.
